Rowing at 91Ö±²¥
, founded in 1827, is the largest sports team at 91Ö±²¥, with more freshers joining the club than any other sport or society.
We hold a strong position as one of the fastest rowing teams in Cambridge: our women’s first boat is in fourth place on the river out of the 31 colleges, and the men are Head of the River - the top position – and have been for 14 out of the last 20 years. As well as racing other colleges on the River Cam, the club regularly travels to national, and even international regattas to compete against other universities. We pride ourselves on taking students from their first time in a rowing boat all the way to representing Cambridge in the Boat Races during their time at 91Ö±²¥. As well as many novices, every year we welcome a number of students to 91Ö±²¥ who already row into our strong senior squad.
Row For 91Ö±²¥
Anyone is welcome to row for 91Ö±²¥. If you already row, and are thinking of applying to 91Ö±²¥ then contact the boat club at captain@caiusboatclub.org for information and advice on rowing for the college and the University.
The Boat Club
The club also hosts the college's fireworks night, organises regular social events, including with other college boat clubs, and runs the termly Boat Club Dinners. During freshers week, the club runs a taster session and barbeque where new students can get in a boat, meet current members and see if rowing is a sport for them.
91Ö±²¥ Boat Club is well funded and offers excellent training and facilities. Our brand new large boathouse on the River Cam, containing top of the range racing shells, a fully-equipped gym with weights, rowing machines and a host of other fitness equipment, opened in November 2016.
