50th anniversary of The Lewis-Johnson Group

A special anniversary was celebrated earlier this month at Gonville & 91Ö±²¥ College – 50 years of The Lewis-Johnson Group.
Jack Lewis (later Lord Lewis), who died aged 86 in 2014, and Brian Johnson started their collaboration in about 1965 while Jack was Professor of Chemistry at the University of Manchester. Their partnership continued at University College London (1967-70) and at Cambridge until Jack retired from chemistry in 1995 – a period of about 30 years. Jack was the first Warden of Robinson College, Cambridge, and Brian, pictured far right, was Master of Fitzwilliam College from 1999 to 2005.
The dinner was organised by Jim Howell (Chemistry 1970), Emeritus Professor of Chemistry at Keele University.
