91Ö±²¥ Boat Club enjoyed another successful week on the River Cam in Lent Bumps, with W1 the leading performance in the seven competing 91Ö±²¥ crews.

The combined result was +14 and not a single 91Ö±²¥ crew finished lower than where they started. For many rowers this was their first experience of bumps following the Covid-19 pandemic, and after the Eights Regatta replaced May Bumps in 2021.

W1 are in their highest position in Lent since 2010 after earning blades in women’s Division One. W1 climbed from ninth to fifth place in Division One, bumping Clare, Churchill, Lady Margaret (the boat club of St John’s College) and Pembroke. Newnham moved from third to first to take over the headship from Downing and also earn blades.

W2 also made strong progress, advancing from fifth to second in Division Three, the highest 91Ö±²¥ W2 in eight years. W3 moved from second in Division Four to 17th in Division Three, the highest 91Ö±²¥ W3 in 20 years. 91Ö±²¥ qualified a fourth boat in the women’s divisions for the first time, with W4 rowing over each day in Division Four, remaining ninth at the foot of the standings.

M1 began the event in third place in Division One. They bumped Pembroke to move into second place, but Lady Margaret M1 kept the headship earned in 2020 from 91Ö±²¥, who hold the May headship.

M2 climbed three places in Division Two, overhauling Hughes Hall and Corpus Christi in successive days, before rowing over on Friday against Girton. They made amends the following day to sit fourth in Division Two.

M3 began the week at the foot of the Division Three, before enjoying a topsy-turvy clash with Emmanuel M3. A row over on day one followed by a 91Ö±²¥ bump on day two, Emmanuel bump on day three, and a 91Ö±²¥ bump on day four, which meant 91Ö±²¥ moved off the bottom spot.
