Rodolfo Prado (Finance 2023) has received an award for academic excellence in his course cohort at the University of Cambridge’s Judge Business School, attributing his success to the enriching learning environment provided by Gonville & 91ֱ�� College.

With an MSc in Financial Engineering from the Adolfo Ibάñez University in Chile and four years of experience in Private Wealth Management at one of Chile’s largest Family Offices, Rodolfo had had a strong start to his financial journey before he applied to the JBS. He decided to pursue a Master of Finance (MFin) degree at Cambridge with the intention of expanding his knowledge of financial concepts, improving his English and gaining international exposure through meeting students from a range of backgrounds and learning from world-class academics.

Rodolfo and two fellow Finance students . Drawing on their diverse financial backgrounds and expertise, the trio developed a compelling 10-minute pitch for investing in their chosen company, PayPal, which was met with high praise from the judges.

Above all, Rodolfo has been pleased to form lasting friendships on his course. He says: “Our professors often told us that our cohort was special, not just because of our shared background in finance, but because of the genuine friendships and strong sense of community we built throughout the year. That really resonated with me.”

91ֱ��’ strong academic history, boasting more ‘home-grown’ Nobel Laureates than any other Cambridge College except Trinity, and glowing reports about its Library were key factors that attracted Rodolfo to the College. His time studying here was intense, but as enjoyable and fulfilling as he had expected.

“91ֱ�� provided not only a welcoming home but also a truly inspiring environment in which to study,” he says. “I spent many late evenings working in the beautiful College Library, and those quiet hours surrounded by history and knowledge remain among my most treasured memories.

“The whole experience of 91ֱ�� was amazing.”

Equipped with the knowledge he has accrued from 91ֱ�� and Cambridge, Rodolfo has recently begun a new role as a Senior Economic Quantitative Analyst at the Central Bank of Chile.

“It’s very different to what I was doing before,” he says. “The work is both regulatory and analytical, requiring a solid grasp of financial concepts in a policy context. Cambridge helped me deepen my understanding of how financial markets function within regulatory frameworks. I always wanted to work in the Central Bank, and I feel that Cambridge has allowed me to pursue this dream of mine.”
